This Privacy Policy describes how PickU Rides (“PickU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and deletes personal information when you use our mobile applications and related services, including the PickU Rider app and the PickU Driver app (together, the “Services”).

PickU Rides is a technology platform that connects passengers (“riders”) with independent transportation providers (“drivers”). We are the data controller for personal information processed through the Services, except where a driver acts as an independent business regarding their own driver account data.

This policy applies to:
- Users of the PickU Rider app (Android and iOS)
- Users of the PickU Driver app (Android and iOS)
- Visitors to our website and legal pages hosted at pickurides.com
By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Account data: name, email address, phone number, profile photo (optional), password or authentication credentials
- Ride data: pickup and drop-off addresses, stops, ride notes, scheduled ride times, ratings, reviews, and support messages
- Payment data: payment method tokens and transaction records processed by our payment partners (we do not store full card numbers on our servers)
- Driver data: vehicle information, licence details, insurance documents, earnings and payout preferences where applicable
- Communications: in-app chat messages between rider and driver during an active trip, and emails or messages you send to support
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Location data: precise GPS location when you use the app and grant permission (e.g., to show your position on the map, match rides, navigate, and calculate fares)
- Device data: device type, operating system, app version, language, and push notification tokens
- Usage data: app interactions, crash logs, and diagnostic information to improve reliability and security
3.3 Information from third parties
- Authentication providers (e.g., sign-in services you choose)
- Payment processors (e.g., Stripe) for payment status and fraud prevention
- Mapping services (e.g., Google Maps) for geocoding, routing, and estimated times
4. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services
- Create and manage your account
- Match riders with drivers and facilitate trips
- Process payments, fares, tips, refunds, and driver payouts
- Send trip-related notifications (e.g., driver assigned, ride completed)
- Provide customer support and respond to disputes
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

7. Location data
Location permission is required for core features. Riders use location to set pickup points and track trips. Drivers use location to receive requests, navigate, and share trip progress. You can disable location in device settings, but some features will not work.
Background location may be collected for drivers while online to support dispatch and safety, as disclosed in the app and store listings.
8. Payments
Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. Their use of your data is governed by their privacy policies. We receive limited payment metadata (amount, status, last four digits where applicable) to complete transactions.
9. Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Trip records may be kept for accounting, tax, and safety purposes as permitted by law.
10. Account and data deletion
10.1 PickU Rider app (passengers)
- Open the PickU Rider app and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Delete account.
- Confirm by typing DELETE when prompted.
Your account is scheduled for deletion. You may sign in again within 30 days to reactivate. After 30 days, we permanently delete or anonymize your account and associated personal data, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records).
10.2 PickU Driver app (drivers)
To request deletion of your driver account and associated data:
- Email support@pickurides.com from the email linked to your account.
- Use the subject line: Driver Account Deletion Request.
- Include your full name and registered phone number.
We will verify your identity and complete deletion within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements (e.g., tax and payout records).
10.3 Delete data without deleting your account
You may request correction or deletion of specific data by emailing support@pickurides.com. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.
10.4 What we delete
Upon confirmed deletion, we aim to remove or anonymize, where applicable:
- Profile and account information (name, email, phone, photo)
- Authentication identifiers managed by our systems
- Rider/driver profile documents stored for your account
- Push notification tokens tied to your account
Some information may be retained in de-identified form, in backups for a limited period, or where required for legal, fraud prevention, or financial compliance.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information (see Section 10)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Data portability (where applicable)
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request access, deletion, and correction of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, email support@pickurides.com.
12. Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
14. International transfers
Your information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.
15. Third-party links and services
The Services may link to third-party sites or integrate third-party SDKs. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, including:
